TODAY’S TOPIC: The Great “I AM” of Jesus

SCRIPTURE: For if you do not believe that I AM, you will die in your sins. – John 8:24

Catholic Today Reflections 5th April 2022 | Tuesday

When we are introduced to Jesus as children, we are told the “story” of the man Jesus. He was the carpenter’s son from Nazareth, who was born of a virgin in Bethlehem, who taught and healed and gathered disciples around the sea of Galilee, who was crucified, died, buried and then resurrected. But there is more. For as important and as true as all those things are, one more thing is essential: We must believe that Jesus WAS and IS God, forever present and inseparable from the Creator of the universe—the great I AM that makes everything possible. In him is life, salvation, everything that ever was and everything we need.

Jesus, may I find you today, alive in the works of your ever-creating hands, alive in the words of holy Scripture, alive in the outstretched hands of your servant priests as they exclaim, “This is my body, given up for you.”
– Steve Givens
